The hearing is still set for 1PM.

Judge Xinis *grants* the government a partial extension but only until 11:30 AM today. Nice.

#Trump’s #DOJ is trying to cancel today's #KilmarAbregoGarcia hearing & delay filing a response to the judge's order until next week.

The 9:30 deadline has passed with no information from the Justice Department about Abrego Garcia's location or status, as demanded by the judge. She has not granted an extension, unclear if she will.

…The other allegation #Trump makes against #MilesTaylor is that his anonymous writings “stoked dissension.” Trump said that amounted to “manufacturing sensationalist reports on the existence of a supposed ‘resistance’ within the Federal Government that ‘vowed’ to undermine & render ineffective a sitting President.”
But the idea that there was some secretive group of govt ofcls working to undermine Trump & check his impulses was also promoted by…Trump himself.

…#Trump’s memo on #MilesTaylor is similarly hyperbolic. It accuses him of conduct that “could properly be characterized as treasonous & as possibly violating the Espionage Act.”

That alleged conduct? Trump claims Taylor’s 2019 book, which he also wrote anonymously, “illegally published classified conversations” & “is full of falsehoods & fabricated stories.”

But the memo points to no details about specific classified information Taylor supposedly shared.

But just as the stolen-election claims were routinely rejected by the courts, this argument has been dealt with by the courts, too — #SCOTUS, in fact. It rejected the claim that #CISA’s efforts to combat #misinformation violated the plaintiffs’ #FirstAmendment rights, as #Trump’s memo suggests. The opinion was written by none other than a Trump-appointed justice, #AmyConeyBarrett.

To the extent #Trump’s executive action got more detailed, it pointed to #ChrisKrebs’s role in supposedly censoring Americans’ claims about what Trump calls the “stolen” election, Hunter Biden’s laptop & the covid pandemic.

“CISA, under Krebs’ leadership, suppressed conservative viewpoints under the guise of combatting supposed disinformation,” it reads.

Law enforcement agents from the #FBI, the #DEA, the #ATF, & #DHS have been given a list of questions to ask the minors & their sponsors during the *welfare checks*….The form directs agents to question sponsors about who asked them to sponsor the child, if any payment was made during the sponsor process, what info they provided in their application, whether the sponsor has ever been arrested, where the sponsors do their banking & where the sponsor works.

This may be consequential for Judge #Boasberg’s contempt proceedings in the #Trump admin’s refusal to abide by his court order to turn around the planes & immediately stop all #AlienEnemiesAct #deportations.

In this decision. #SCOTUS unanimously rejected the argument that a district judge lacks power to order gov to facilitate return once planes leave US jdx. That was the admin’s main rationale for defying the court’s written order.

#SCOTUS’ decision was unanimous. Additionally it suggests someone held overseas can still be given due process.
Ya think? Especially given that the #Trump admin is paying #ElSalvador to detain the *deportees*

There is going to be a whole lot of arguing about what "facilitate" means / entails.

#KilmarAbregoGarcia, a Salvadoran migrant who was living in Maryland & has had a work permit since 2019, was stopped & detained by #ICE officers on March 12 & questioned about his *alleged* gang affiliation. He was deported on March 15 on one of three high-profile #deportation flights to #ElSalvador that also included alleged Venezuelan gang members.

#Trump intensified his efforts to punish his critics by signing a pair of memos directing #DOJ to investigate 2 ofcls from his first admin & stripping them of any security clearances they may have.

Trump’s targeting of #MilesTaylor, a fmr DHS ofcl in Trump’s first term, & #ChrisKrebs, a fmr top #cybersecurity ofcl, came as the Republican president has sought to [ab]use the powers of the presidency to retaliate against his adversaries…
