Well, started the day with a 10k (10.63km to be precise) which was fantabulosa!!

I'm always a bit self conscious when it comes to sharing my running times...mainly because I've had to dial back pace, or else face long spells Injured, and now I run like a tortoise through peanut butter. However today was the best I've felt running for a long time....Hopefully my days writing will be as smooth and enjoyable.

@robchapman Looks like a great run! 🎉 Please, do not be self-conscious about your pace. The folks following the #running hashtag here cover all ranges and abilities, and I think it's safe to say that everyone is just happy to see another person putting in the effort. You're running at the pace that allows to you to keep running, and protect yourself. The fact that you felt at your best doing it is simply wonderful. Keep at it!

@WTL @robchapman

Great stuff. I second this. I am a terrible runner, but seem to improve the more I manage to slow my pace.

@TheBreadmonkey @WTL Slowing the pace really out of necessity, if I try and push it, i could be months out, again. So I'm distance running for pure enjoyment of it, and my preference is to go longer, so hopefully by the end of the month I will take that red line right to the other side and back, then I can look at expanding my routes up to the north, again, or the south into unknown routes :)

@robchapman @WTL

I've got a chequered history with running - a lot of treadmill for weight loss when I was younger, then a bad accident where I nearly lost a leg, then a heart issue. Lots of lifestyle (and attitude) changes later and I now cherish my running, but I'm still awful at it. But I do my 5k every Saturday and have joined a vets club where I do another 6-8 on a Tuesday and intervals on a Thursday. I've never done a 10k before outside of a gym and have 2 booked in this year with a loose plan to do some longer events next year. So I see your run and think it's great because that's what I'm aspiring to!

@TheBreadmonkey @WTL OMG, not the best running past! I also started on a treadmill - for weight loss. I am not a typically proportioned runner, sadly with injury lay ups, and an age where toning gets exponentially harder, it is what it is.Accepting that I can go long, not fast helped. But I'll take this, over not being able to run.

Anyway,. When you do your 10K I guarantee you'll love it more than 5K. At about 7Km earlier, I was like 'Bloody hell I can actually do this again!'

@WTL Thanks, it's taken a lot of mental work to get to here, again - I had actually planned to run that yesterday, but I woke up having a panic attack, so I postponed it, and did it today - I don't really know what I was worried about - perhaps not being able? I dunno...next is to go all the way to the other side and back, (+/-13km) then I'm not far away from the half marathon which was the distance I was at before my injury took me out for 2 years..I'll keep posting, thanks for your support

@WTL @robchapman
Always good advice here, and tons of support too.

@robchapman looking at numbers you are faster than me. But it's not the numbers I'm looking at, it what you have done, that you got out, taking care of yourself. Because if you injure yourself again/more, the longer you will on the bench wishing you could be out running. I was off cycling for 3 years, fecking hard and gutted, but glad I took my time because I can now cycle again.

@woollypigs 3 years...shit! I had 2 years out, i was training to get upto Marathon distance, got as far as a half Marathon. Now I'm running long distance for myself.. that was the first 10k since that injury. I can't ever run the same, but I can run...so its all good, now I've got to not suddenly jump up distance, take it slow, and simply enjoy myself
