@TarkabarkaHolgy I’ve bookmarked these for the next time I am stuck for something to read! All look fascinating and quite different to the things I end up being directed to… 😊

@TarkabarkaHolgy

Added a few of these to by TBR list.

I’m still whittling down my list of favourite reads this year (in theory, actually I keep adding more to the list)

But I really enjoyed Kneelers: The Unsung Folk Art of England and Wales by Elizabeth Bingham

@TarkabarkaHolgy Hmm not sure I quite use it (yet) in a way which helps me enormously with this question, but I can plug Bookwyrm, a federated place to share lists of books, reviews, etc. The books I marked as read in 2024 (and a tiny bit into 2023) are at sfba.club/user/soaproot/books/

@TarkabarkaHolgy Great tips! Thank you =) I'll definitely check out "The invention of clouds" and "Herba Mythica"... and I absolutely need "Eating the liver of the Earth" for reading with my wife. We loved Kancil stories that we discovered in a Czech collection of Indonesian folktales (daribnrushd.cz/zorica-dubovska). And this is an entire book of these! Was there the story about kancil helping a family of woodcocks against farmers?

daribnrushd.czZorica Dubovská, Bajky a pověsti Indonésie - Dar ibn RushdZorica Dubovská, Bajky a pověsti Indonésie.

@TarkabarkaHolgy Oooh, thank you! I added the Scottish tales and the Mousedeer ones to my (far too long) reading list!
