Finally watched #TheMarvels and I think it was great. It was lovable and fun.
I also think that people considered it a fail for the same reason some hated Turning Red:
Because teenage fangirls are seen as cringe. While teenage fanboys are Spiderman.
I said what I said
@TarkabarkaHolgy I thought it was great and a nice carry on from the #MsMarvel #TVshow. And though Ms Marvel's powers are different to the original comics, they captured her character really well.
@Markkielty they absolutely did, and the actress is a rl superfan of the character
@TarkabarkaHolgy There were two scenes in it that were over the top craziness and I loved it for them.
Everyone says "we're sick of cookie cutter movies" and then one does something different and it's "It isn't like all the others!!!"
@andrewplord right? I loved how much fun they had with bonkers concepts
I enjoyed it so much. I had to skip some bits with the Khans, because even though I'm a middle aged, white, British man who was brought up Catholic, they're so much like my own family that it gives me borderline flashbacks.
Absoluteley agree.
I remember the action being more entertaining than most other superhero movies we (my daughter and I) have seen. Because it was not just the usual punching and flying about but way more ... creative.
@TarkabarkaHolgy We loved Kamala and the flerkens. The interplay between The Marvels and Kamala's family was good too.
We could have done without the royal Court singing on the watery planet. It was almost Jar Jar Binks level cringe
@TarkabarkaHolgy Having absolutely loved the Marvels, I clearly now need to watch Turning Red.
@TarkabarkaHolgy @CatRyan I enjoyed it very much. As a man who was before before Carol Danvers.
@TarkabarkaHolgy I watched it twice in the theater. I went with friend and was so amused I took my husband so I wouldn’t spoil it for him before he could watch it! I loved it!!
Agree Marvels film is lots of fun, filled with love and hugs
