Never just post a ‘shocking’ story on social media without fact checking it first. Even if it’s about those on the other side of the political spectrum.
No wait, ESPECIALLY if it’s about those on the other side of the political spectrum.
Because misinformation and hearsay are everywhere, and it will spread if not questioned.

To add to this, the worst misconceptions that have led to misinformation and political strife are:
1. There are only two sides. My side and the bad one.
No, there are not. It’s not a sports game.
2. Anything said about the other side is true and doesn’t need fact checking.
No, it especially does. People have a blind spot for stories that match their worldview or that they want to be true.
3. Someone I agree with must be a good person (and vice versa)
Nope. Definitely not.
