@oliviamccabe
Hello and thank you. x
@BintyMcFrazzles I'm new here too. I like art, dogs, comedy, music, blogging and learning.
@KeriC9 Hello back!
@BintyMcFrazzles already following you but boosted your post #GTTO
@Laurie Thank you. Yes, it's very painful. The big zingers are fewer and less extreme now, but it still aches most of the time. x
Welcome to the Fediverse!
Looks like you already figured out the whole hashtag thing which is really used a lot around here.
@randynose Thanks. I migrated from twitter and like it.
It's a lot like twitter, without the right-wing bigots and racists that randomly appeared on my timeline.
Oh, and without HWTHSBO (He Who Thinks He Should Be Obeyed).
I'm glad you like it. I'm a G+ refugee.
Well, there ARE some instances that are very, um, right wing, from what I hear, but we can filter those out either at the user or instance level. - My instance stated what they filter out when I joined, and I've been good with it.
I don't dive deep into the political stuff, myself.
This is the outside crew. 1 Momma a 3 boys. I have a couple others, but this is the "feral" crew.
@randynose Beautiful cats.
In May, a neighbour of ours abandoned two cats; one was a pregnant female who we managed to get to an emergency rescue. The other is a gorgeous black boy we've called Marvin. He's very nervous, and has only started coming in the past few weeks. I think he's started to realise we won't hurt him. We're both allergic, but we wouldn't ever see him struggle. He has a home as long as he wants it, when he wants to come in. x
This guy showed up in my backyard a couple years ago, within a couple of days he was up on my lap giving me chin rubs.
Took me a few months to get him comfortable coming into the house.
One of the best cats ever.
@randynose
Sweet boy! I love his little black beard.
Our little Marvin is so nervous, and it's been 7 months. He comes in and eats, has a wash, then goes out again. He comes in at night, and chills. That's it.
If that's how he wants to be, that's fine by us. We'll go with whatever he wants. We got him an outside house with a self-warming blanket when he wants it.
Yeah, I have a couple of insulated boxes for the outside cats with pet heating pads in them.
It's nice to see them just hang out and chill.
@BintyMcFrazzles Ok, wow. I have been posting about my frozen shoulder. I had it a couple of years ago, and a friend of mine has it now. Hope your recovery is going well!
@dancinyogi@mastodon.sdf.org @BintyMcFrazzles@ohai.social
as an american that had frozen shoulder, I had physical therapy, but had to work through it
I wish we had healthcare in the USA. Instead we have insurance
The NHS is great, but it's been massively underfunded for a long time now. So I actually pay privately for an osteopath as I find that really helpful.
I work for the NHS as a nurse, and get sick pay, so I've been off for 6 months now, but have had full pay, which has been good. But I'm now down to half-pay, but going back at the beginning of April, but non-clinical. My ROM is still poor and I can't work as a nurse safely yet.
@BintyMcFrazzles @griff I couldn't take time off, which made no sense. For about a month, my ROM was terrible. I couldn't type. I couldn't set up cubicles for new employees. I couldn't set up weekly lunches. The list of what I couldn't do vastly outnumbered what I could, but my former employer didn't approve my PTO (I only had four days of it!).
I'm glad you had the ability to take time off, as challenging as it has been. It's not a fun recovery.
@dancinyogi @griff
That's terrible, you must have been in so much pain. x
@dancinyogi
Thank you. It seems to be slowly getting better, and I have much less pain now, but the range of movement is poor, so I'm at the frozen stage. I'm back at work, but non-clinical from the beginning of April.
